Godobert’s Chapel lies outside the town walls to the north. It was first documented in the year 1260 as the “capella guduberti”. Its design indicates that it was built in the middle of the 12th century which makes it, therefore, the oldest ecclesiastical building in Gelnhausen. Today civil wedding ceremonies are held here.
