The Steinbrunnen

The Steinbrunnen is at the top of the lane “Am Steinbrunnen”, beneath the Halbmond or Half Moon Tower. Originally the well-house could be entered, but it is now only open for guided tours.
Three underground streams come together here. The two nearer the front come from the right but carry little water. The third stream comes from a tunnel which has been driven about 25 metres into the hillside. This carries a lot of water which is then collected in a sandstone pool. Fresh water could be drawn here at any time.
